The National Police Logistics Staff (Slog Polri) together with the West Jakarta Metropolitan Police held a low-price basic necessities market at the Cendrawasih Sports Field, Cengkareng, on Sunday (28/6) as part of the series of events commemorating the 80th Bhayangkara Day. Senior Policy Analyst at the Slog Polri’s Study and Strategy Bureau and Coordinator for the West Jakarta People’s Market, Police Grand Commissioner Tunggul, stated that the market provided 5,000 packages of premium rice (five kilogrammes), 5,000 litres of cooking oil, and 5,000 kilogrammes of granulated sugar, all sold at affordable prices. Nationally, the 80th Bhayangkara Day low-price market was held simultaneously in Central Jakarta, West Jakarta, South Jakarta, Bekasi Regency, and South Tangerang City, with a total of 75,000 staple food packages prepared for the community, Tunggul confirmed in Jakarta on Monday. During the event, the public could purchase five kilogrammes of premium rice for Rp50,000, one kilogramme of granulated sugar for Rp10,000, and one litre of cooking oil for Rp10,000. ‘This activity is expected to help meet the basic needs of the community,’ said Tunggul. The event was enthusiastically welcomed by thousands of residents who crowded the location from the morning. People from various areas of West Jakarta flocked to the venue to obtain the low-priced staples. In addition to the low-price market, the event also featured a bazaar of Bhayangkari small and medium enterprise products, free food and drink distribution, various souvenirs from the National Police, a children’s play area, a stage with entertainment, and a public viewing of the World Cup.
