National Police Legal Division Affirms Search of Febrie Adriansyah's Home Was Lawful
The Head of the Legal Aid Bureau of the National Police’s Legal Division, Brigadier General Veries Septriansyah, has affirmed that the search and seizure actions against former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah were carried out in accordance with prevailing legal provisions. The statement was delivered on the sidelines of a pre-trial hearing at the South Jakarta District Court on Thursday (20/8/2026).
During the hearing, Adriansyah’s camp presented three experts, comprising an administrative law expert and two criminal law experts, to examine the validity of the coercive measures undertaken by investigators. Veries stated that his side was scrutinising the experts’ testimony as material to rebut the applicant’s arguments.
“Regarding the questions put to the experts, this is of course a form of rebuttal to the arguments submitted by the applicant against the respondents,” Veries said at the South Jakarta District Court.
Veries stressed that search and seizure actions are deemed lawful as long as they are relevant to the case being handled. According to him, the procedures followed by investigators have a strong legal basis, including compliance with Law Number 20 of 2025.
The respondents have also prepared a number of documentary evidence and documents to strengthen their legal position. This evidence will be submitted at the conclusion of the expert examination to demonstrate the basis and purpose of every action taken by both the first and second respondents.
“Later, the documentary evidence will speak for itself regarding the purpose of the letters and documents we have prepared that support the actions taken,” he explained.
Concluding his remarks, Veries informed that the Police would present their own experts at the next hearing on Friday (21/8/2026). The presence of experts from the respondents’ side is intended to provide a legal perspective to rebut the petition’s posita as well as the expert testimony previously presented by Adriansyah’s camp.
