National Police Labour Desk Resolves Severance Pay Dispute for 130 Workers

PT Kerta Gaya Pusaka has agreed to fulfil severance and compensation rights for 130 workers affected by layoffs, with a total value of Rp 10,000,000,000, stated Brigadier General Mohammad Irhamni, Director of Criminal Investigation of Subterfuge (Dirtipidter) of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) and Head of the National Police Labour Desk, in a statement on Thursday (4/6/202<0xA0>26).

He noted that the resolution was achieved through mediation held at the National Police Labour Desk Hall in Jakarta on Wednesday (3/6). The dispute had previously been processed as an alleged labour crime as referred to in Article 186 junctio 156 paragraph (1) of Law Number 13 of 2003 concerning Labour.

“Alhamdulillah, through this mediation, the problem has found a common ground and has been resolved well. Thank you to both parties for prioritising deliberation, compromise, and peace,” said Irhamni.

On the same occasion, the Advisor to the Chief of National Police on Labour, Andi Gani Nena Wea, appreciated the National Police Labour Desk for facilitating the dispute resolution and reaching an agreement that accommodates workers’ rights. He mentioned that the labour issue had been ongoing for quite some time before finally being resolved through the National Police Labour Desk.

“This serves as evidence that the presence of the state through the National Police is capable of providing certainty and protection for both workers and companies in seeking a fair solution,” said Andi Gani.

He ensured that the labour union will continue to safeguard workers’ rights and encourage the resolution of every industrial relations dispute through dialogue and constructive mechanisms. “This resolution is good news for workers and their families because their rights can finally be fulfilled. Hopefully, resolutions like this can serve as an example in handling various labour issues in Indonesia,” he added.

Andi Gani revealed that, to date, the National Police Labour Desk has successfully resolved 78 labour cases across various sectors. This achievement demonstrates the National Police’s commitment to assisting in the resolution of industrial relations disputes quickly, effectively, and justly. “The success in resolving 78 labour cases shows that the National Police Labour Desk has become an effective forum in bridging the interests of workers and companies,” concluded Andi Gani.
