The National Police (Polri) inaugurated the Professor Raden Soepomo Research Centre at the Police Science Higher Education School (STIK) complex on Tirtayasa Street, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. The inauguration was led by Deputy National Police Commander General Dedi Prasetyo.

On Tuesday, 10 March 2026, the building inauguration was marked by the cutting of a white and blue ribbon by General Dedi and a representative of Professor Raden Soepomo’s family. Under the guidance of STIK Head Inspector General Eko Rudi Sudarto, General Dedi invited the professor’s family to tour the building’s facilities.

Professor Raden Soepomo was a prominent figure who laid crucial foundations for the development of police science. He was one of the founding fathers of the Police Science Higher Education Institution (PTIK) and served as its first dean. Soepomo believed that policing must be established on foundations of knowledge, ethics, and academic responsibility. He held that policing could not be built solely through organisational strength and legal authority.

“For this reason, it is most appropriate that this research centre building is named after him,” said Inspector General Eko in his remarks.

At the same event, Polri launched seven research centres at STIK’s Education and Training Institute (Lemdiklat). The research centres launched were:

  1. Police Technology Research Centre, led by Inspector General Suwondo Nainggolan

  2. Police Forensics Research Centre, led by Inspector General Asep Hendradiana

  3. International Policing Research Centre, led by Retired General Petrus R. Golose

  4. National Security Research Centre, led by Professor Muradi

  5. Women and Child Protection Research Centre, led by Brigadier General Nurul Azizah

  6. Restorative Justice and Conflict Transformation Research Centre, led by Andrea H. Poeloengan

  7. Security Intelligence Research Centre, led by Inspector General Achmad Kartiko

In addition to launching the seven research centres, Polri also released a book titled “Recruitment, Meritocracy and Technology,” authored by General Dedi.
