National Police Headquarters Takes Over Bima Police Chief Case, Will Pursue Ethics and Criminal Proceedings
Jakarta, CNN Indonesia – The National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) has taken over the suspected drug trafficking case involving Bima City Police Chief Sr. Comr. Didik Putra Kuncoro. National Police Public Relations Division Chief Insp. Gen. Johnny Eddizon Isir said Didik has been deactivated from his position as police chief. Additionally, he is also being investigated for alleged ethical violations by the National Police Professional and Security Division (Propam).
“Yes, that’s correct — he has been deactivated and is being investigated by Propam,” he said when confirmed via text message on Friday (2/13).
Separately, Bareskrim Narcotics Crime Director Brig. Gen. Eko Hadi Santoso said his office is investigating the suspected criminal offenses committed by Didik. He assured that the drug trafficking case will be processed in accordance with the evidence found. Eko said Didik is currently being detained at Bareskrim.
“Yes, we have brought him to National Police Headquarters. The ethics violations are handled by Propam, and the criminal case is handled by the Narcotics Directorate at Police Headquarters,” he explained.
Sr. Comr. Didik Putra Kuncoro came under public scrutiny after the Head of the Bima City Police Narcotics Unit, Adj. Comr. Malaungi, was implicated in a drug case and named a suspect. Didik is suspected of involvement in the case by receiving Rp 1 billion from a drug dealer named Koko Erwin.
In the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police investigation, Koko Erwin was identified as the source from whom Adj. Comr. Malaungi obtained 488 grams of methamphetamine. The drugs were found during a search of Malaungi’s official residence in the Bima City Police Barracks complex.
In addition to naming Malaungi as a suspect in the drug case, the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police on Monday (2/9) imposed a dishonorable discharge based on the ruling of the National Police Professional Ethics Commission hearing.
