The Directorate of General Criminal Crimes (Dittipidum) at the National Police Headquarters (Bareskrim Polri) is still pursuing the report from Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President, Jusuf Kalla (JK), regarding an alleged case of spreading false information (hoax). Currently, investigators are focusing on delving into the digital evidence in the case.

Dittipidum Bareskrim Polri’s Brigadier General Wira Satya Triputra explained that they have conducted clarification with Jusuf Kalla as the complainant. At present, the investigative team is in the stage of gathering evidence.

“Regarding (the report from) Jusuf Kalla the other day, we have already clarified it. For clarification, we are still gathering evidence,” said Wira to reporters at the Bareskrim Polri building in South Jakarta on Friday (8/5/2026).

Wira stated that they are currently delving into the digital evidence in the case. Due to its technical and specific nature, they will conduct intensive coordination with the Directorate of Cyber Criminal Crimes (Dittipidsiber) at Bareskrim Polri.

“For the digital evidence, we will coordinate with the Cyber Directorate later because it is specialised for handling the evidence, so we will coordinate,” he explained.

So far, the police have not scheduled examinations for the reported parties. Wira emphasised that investigators are still examining other witnesses to strengthen the report.

“(Examination of the reported parties) not yet. Because after that, the witnesses first,” Wira clarified.

When asked about the number of witnesses who have been questioned so far, Wira declined to provide detailed information. However, he assured that the witness examination process is underway.

JK Reports Rismon to Bareskrim

Previously, Jusuf Kalla (JK) officially reported Rismon Sianipar to Bareskrim Polri. The report was filed by JK regarding the alleged spreading of false information (hoax) claiming that he funded Roy Suryo and others in the controversy over the educational credentials of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

“I came to file a police report. It turns out the police reporting process is quite lengthy. I am reporting Mr Rismon Sianipar for his actions that I consider damaging to me because he said I funded Roy Suryo and associates regarding Mr Jokowi’s diploma,” said JK at the Bareskrim Polri building in South Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

JK asserted that the accusation is untrue and has tarnished his reputation. He views the widely circulated information as a form of unethical insult.

“It is clear that I did not do it. First of all, it has spread widely, and for me, this is an insult. Because it is very unethical for me; Mr Jokowi is the President whom I served as Vice President,” stated JK.

He mentioned that he served as Vice President alongside Jokowi for five years. He said it is impossible for him to pay people to investigate Jokowi.

“We were both in the government, together for five years; how could I pay people Rp 5 billion to investigate him. That is inappropriate and impossible for me to do,” he said.

According to JK, the accusation is damaging because it portrays him as funding efforts to scrutinise or betray the President. Therefore, JK chose to take legal action.

“Because it has already spread or whatever, I am taking it to the police because of my reputation,” he explained.
