National Police Criminal Investigation Agency Uncovers Etomidate Distribution in Tangerang, Courier Paid Rp 1 Million Per Delivery
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) has uncovered the distribution of the narcotic etomidate and methamphetamine in the Tangerang area, Banten.
In the bust, police arrested a man named Santoso or S (47), who is suspected of being a courier as well as a recipient of narcotic packages from the distribution network. Santoso was paid Rp 1 million per delivery.
Director of Narcotics Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, stated that the uncovering was carried out by the Subdit II team of the Dittipidnarkoba at Bareskrim Polri in the early hours of Tuesday (12/5/2026).
“The Subdit II investigation team of the Dittipidnarkoba at Bareskrim Polri successfully uncovered the narcotic crime involving etomidate and methamphetamine,” said Eko in his statement on Wednesday (13/5/2026).
The case came to light after police received information from the public regarding suspected distribution of etomidate in the Tangerang area, which was distributed using online delivery services.
From the investigation results, police suspected a man who was collecting a package from a delivery service driver.
The team then tailed and secured Santoso at the location.
Upon examination of the package received by the suspect, police found 98 cartridges suspected to contain etomidate, packaged in a brown paper bag and a cardboard box sealed with black duct tape.
The evidence consisted of 34 red-coloured cartridges and 64 yellow-coloured cartridges.
From the initial examination, the suspect admitted that the methamphetamine he possessed came from an individual with the initials L, under a “tempel” system for personal use.
Meanwhile, the etomidate package he received was also said to have been sent by the same person.
“The etomidate package, according to Santoso’s statement, was also sent by the initials L. L is currently being sought by the field team,” said Eko.
To investigators, Santoso admitted that he had previously received two similar package shipments.
