National Police Criminal Investigation Agency Arrests Fugitive Drug Lord Andre 'The Doctor' in Malaysia

Indonesia’s National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) has arrested Andre Fernando, alias ‘The Doctor’ or Charlie, a fugitive drug lord associated with the Ko Erwin network. “It is true that on Sunday, 5 April 2026, the wanted suspect named Andre Fernando alias Charlie alias The Doctor was successfully arrested,” stated Brigadier General Eko Hadi, Director of Narcotics Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, in a written statement on Monday (6/4/2026). Eko explained that Andre was captured by a joint team from Bareskrim and Polri’s International Relations Division on Sunday (5/4) in Penang, Malaysia. He is now being transported back to Indonesia. “The wanted suspect is currently en route to Indonesia under police escort,” he said. Previously, Andre Fernando was known to reside in the Cempaka Baru area, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. ‘The Doctor’ has physical characteristics including a height of 165 cm, weight of around 70 kg, short black hair, and sallow skin. Andre Fernando became a wanted suspect in a narcotics case involving drug lord Ko Erwin. The Ko Erwin case also implicated former Bima City Police Chief AKBP Didik Putra Kuncoro and former Head of Bima City Police Narcotics Unit AKP Malaungi. Andre is said to be the figure who supplied the methamphetamine purchased by Ko Erwin for distribution in the Bima region, NTB. Ko Erwin is known to have conducted two transactions with Andre in January 2026. The first transaction was worth Rp 400 million for 2 kg of methamphetamine. The second transaction was also Rp 400 million for 3 kg of methamphetamine received. Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, Director of Narcotics at Bareskrim Polri, noted that Andre is known by the nickname ‘The Doctor’. He acted as a distributor importing drugs into Indonesia via land routes and cargo. “Ko Andre or ‘The Doctor’ supplied various types of drugs, including methamphetamine, vapes containing etomidate, and happy water,” Eko stated in his remarks.
