Jakarta — Indonesia’s National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri) has issued clarifications regarding the equestrian training simulator facility operated by the Directorate of Police Animals (Ditpolsatwa) under the Special Operations Command’s Animal Unit, which has recently become viral on social media platforms.

Brigadier General Johnny Eddizon Isir, Head of the National Police Public Relations Division, explained in Jakarta on Tuesday that the horse simulator is utilised by Ditpolsatwa personnel for training purposes.

“There are four simulator units for basic horsemanship training,” he stated.

He detailed that one simulator unit is designed for learning walking, running, and galloping techniques, whilst another unit is dedicated to jumping or obstacle training. The remaining two units are allocated for racing instruction.

“The equestrian training simulator facility is exclusively operated by the Directorate of Police Animals under the Special Operations Command’s Animal Unit,” he noted.

Isir disclosed that each equestrian simulator unit costs Rp1 billion, with funding sourced from the 2016 budget allocation.

“The horse simulation budget was part of the 2016 PLN budget,” he explained.

The clarifications follow a viral video circulating on social media depicting multiple equestrian simulator units housed within a facility. The video was uploaded by Senior Commissioner Gatot Aris Purbaya, Deputy Director of Advanced Training at Ditpolsatwa, to his personal Instagram account @garistrakos.official.

In his post, Purbaya stated that the National Police’s equestrian training simulator facility represents the most comprehensive of its kind in Indonesia.

“This is how Ditpolsatwa merges technology and tradition to develop resilient personnel,” read Purbaya’s caption.
