National Police Chief's Pilgrimage to National Heroes' Graves Hailed as Exemplary for Leaders

Coordinator of Gerakan Indonesia Cerah (GIC), Febri Wahyuni Sabran, has praised National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo for undertaking a pilgrimage to the graves of national figures. Sigit visited the tombs of several important leaders, including former presidents Abdurrahman Wahid, Soekarno, and Soeharto, as well as the Taman Makam Pahlawan (Heroes’ Cemetery). The activity garnered public attention and commendation from various quarters as a sincere form of respect for the nation’s founders and leaders. According to the Police Chief, the pilgrimage was not merely a ceremonial visit. He asserted that it was part of a profound inner journey to explore and absorb the leadership examples set by predecessors who contributed to building the Indonesian nation and state. Each grave visited represents a legacy of noble values that every leader in this country should uphold. Febri assessed the Police Chief’s actions as a form of respect and emulation of the virtues of Indonesia’s national figures. ‘Learning from history is not just about knowing the course of events, but how we honour and emulate the virtues they have bequeathed. And that is what Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo has done,’ Febri stated in a written release on Monday, 22 June 2026. Febri believes the Police Chief’s actions serve as a positive example for leaders across Indonesia. He stressed that respect for history and national figures should be an integral part of a true leader’s character, not merely a formality or an attempt to cultivate an image.
