Jakarta — National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has expressed concern about the consequences of United States and Israeli military strikes against Iran. He warned that such attacks will have repercussions for global economic stability and security.

“We are witnessing the shifting geopolitical dynamics between the United States, Israel, and Iran, which will certainly impact global economic stability, as well as global security stability,” Sigit said during an iftar gathering between the National Police Chief and the KSBSI family at Tri Brata Building in Jakarta on Sunday, 1 March 2026.

Sigit stated that the Middle Eastern tensions will affect the situation within Indonesia. He called on all parties to prepare and take various steps to address the global situation.

“There will certainly be economic pressures, in addition to technological developments, which will inevitably impact sectors related to employment. Industrial relations will also be disrupted due to the impact of the global situation, which will then affect the situation within our country,” he said.

Furthermore, he noted that all parties working in the labour sector must remain vigilant and resilient amid the situation.

“On one hand, we need to find solutions so that we can all survive and navigate the situation and geopolitical constellation that impacts all sectors,” he stated.

According to reporting by The Guardian, Israel has closed its airspace in anticipation of a possible retaliatory attack from Iran involving drones and missiles.

An Israeli military spokesperson stated that the strikes represent a preliminary step to eliminate threats to the country. Meanwhile, Agence France-Presse reported two explosions heard in Tehran.

This information was relayed by several US officials and other sources aware of the operation. The strikes occurred as the US deployed a large fleet of fighter jets and warships to the region to pressure Iran into reaching an agreement regarding its nuclear programme.

Following Khamenei’s death, Iran declared a 40-day mourning period and seven days of national holidays.
