National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has continued his series of pilgrimages to the graves of former presidents, part of the lead-up to the 80th Bhayangkara Day. This time, the Police Chief visited the grave of the 1st President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Soekarno (Bung Karno), in Blitar City, East Java. Previously, the Police Chief had visited the grave of Gus Dur. “Earlier this morning, we made a pilgrimage to the grave of the late President Gus Dur. And Alhamdulillah, now we are carrying out a pilgrimage to the grave of the late President Soekarno. After this, we will continue to the grave of Mr President Soeharto and finally conclude at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery,” said Sigit on Saturday, 20 June 2026. Sigit explained that this series of pilgrimages is intended to continually remember the values fought for by the leaders of the Indonesian nation. According to him, this is also important for the future advancement of the National Police institution. “Of course, this series of activities we are carrying out is part of our tradition to absorb and explore the values of the nation’s leaders, which is certainly very important, especially for the National Police institution. We have a mandate to continue to uphold what has been inherited, the values that have been given by our former Presidents and former national leaders to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and also to the National Police institution,” said Sigit. Therefore, Sigit stressed that the inherited values must be safeguarded and maintained. As successors, Sigit assured that the National Police will continue the spirit of struggle of the nation’s past leaders. “Likewise, this becomes a strength, a positive thing for us to continue to develop as a spirit for the National Police institution, so that we can continue to carry out the mandate of the institution, the mandate of the community, the nation, and the state, to execute all these duties and responsibilities as best as possible,” said Sigit.
