National Police Chief Urges Public Not to Panic Buy: Food and Fuel Stocks Adequate
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the government provides guarantees regarding the availability of food stocks and fuel (BBM) domestically. General Sigit urged the public to remain calm and refrain from hoarding or panic buying amid the escalating global situation.
The statement was delivered by the National Police Chief following a series of Ramadan Safari events and breaking fast together with religious leaders and all elements of Central Java society. The agenda was carried out at Central Java Regional Police Headquarters in Semarang on Monday, 16 March 2026.
Accompanying the National Police Chief were Deputy Operations Chief General Mohamad Fadil Imran, Central Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Ribut Hari Wibowo, Human Resources Deputy Inspector General Anwar, Public Relations Chief Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, and Traffic Chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho.
General Sigit explained that the situation in the Gulf region indeed has implications for global conditions, particularly regarding fluctuations in world oil prices. However, he assured that President Prabowo Subianto’s government continues to work hard implementing strategic measures and bilateral coordination to maintain domestic stability.
“The government is working hard so that the impacts of the existing crisis can be addressed through coordination measures with other countries, so that our oil sufficiency continues to be maintained. Alhamdulillah, for the coming months our oil stocks are in adequate condition,” said General Sigit.
Beyond the energy sector, the National Police Chief also highlighted the availability of basic commodities. He emphasised that national food stocks are currently in a safe position to meet public needs, especially during Ramadan and Eid celebrations.
Given that available stocks are sufficient, General Sigit urged the public not to be influenced by issues that trigger panic. According to him, public unity and calm are vital keys to maintaining national stability.
“Our hope is that the public need not be too panicked, which would otherwise trigger panic buying. That will impact the supply conditions that actually exist. Our hope is that we come together and ensure that whatever circumstances we face, we can handle everything,” he added.
Furthermore, the National Police Chief conveyed that the President continues to encourage strengthening food and energy resilience so that Indonesia can independently face global challenges. The readiness and quality of human resources to manage natural resources remains the primary focus towards the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.
“Hopefully this gathering continues to strengthen the unity we need to maintain stability and public order,” he concluded.
