National Police Chief Urges Investigators to Understand New Criminal Procedure Code for Justice

Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has called on all Indonesian National Police (Polri) investigators to understand the provisions of the new Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) to meet the public’s sense of justice. Listyo stated that the KUHAP is a legislative product of the House of Representatives (DPR) that must be understood and implemented properly by all law enforcement officers. He made the remarks after attending the launch of the book ‘Anotasi KUHAP 2025: Sebuah Catatan Pembahasan dan Penjelasan Komprehensif Komisi III DPR RI’ at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Tuesday. ‘This is part of a major product, a great work of the DPR, and of course we will all implement it as best we can,’ Listyo said. Meanwhile, Chairman of the DPR’s Commission III, Habiburokhman, said the annotated book was compiled as a guide explaining the provisions of the new KUHAP along with the background behind the formation of each article. He said the book is expected to help the public and law enforcement officials understand the substance of the KUHAP, especially for those who do not yet fully comprehend its provisions. ‘If there is something unclear, the public has the right to ask for clarification. So, who should they ask? The most appropriate people to ask are those who made it,’ Habiburokhman said.
