National Police Chief Transfers Brigadier General Hengki Haryadi to Lead Southwest Papua Regional Police

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has again carried out a large-scale rotation and transfer within the Indonesian National Police (Polri). The policy targets a number of high-ranking officers (Pati) and middle-ranking officers (Pamen) for organisational refreshment and the filling of strategic positions.

The transfer decision is set out in three Telegram Letters (ST) dated 30 August 2026, namely numbers ST/1877/VIII/KEP./2026, ST/1878/VIII/KEP./2026, and ST/1879/VIII/KEP./2026. In total, 344 personnel received promotions or new postings in this wave of transfers.

One of the notable points in this reshuffle is the appointment of Brigadier General Hengki Haryadi as Chief of the Southwest Papua Regional Police. Hengki, who previously served as Deputy Chief of the Riau Regional Police since 14 December 2025, will replace Brigadier General Audie Latuheru, who had held the position since 25 June 2026.

Brigadier General Hengki Haryadi is widely known to the public as a firm figure in the eradication of thuggery, especially during his service in Jakarta, including his success in the arrest of preman figure Hercules. Meanwhile, the position of Deputy Chief of the Riau Regional Police left by Hengki will be filled by Brigadier General Simson Zet Ringu, who previously served as Deputy Chief of the Gorontalo Regional Police.

In addition to the shifts in the Southwest Papua and Riau regions, the National Police Chief also overhauled a number of key positions at the level of principal officials (PJU) at Police Headquarters and the leadership of other regional police commands.

Head of the Police Public Relations Division, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, stated that the transfer is part of a natural process within the Polri organisation. In addition to promotions, this round of transfers also includes personnel entering retirement and those who will undergo further education.
