National Police Chief: The State Must Be Present for Women and Children Victims of Violence

General Sigit made these remarks following the signing of a Joint Decree (SKB) for the Pilot Programme of Integrated Services for Women and Children at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday (4/6/2026). The National Police Chief stated that the Indonesian National Police (Polri) welcomes the cross-ministerial, inter-agency, and Jakarta Provincial Government cooperation in implementing integrated services for victims of violence.

“Naturally, we from the National Police institution welcome the signing of this joint decree between ministries, the Police, and the Jakarta government. We recognise that optimal service is required for the community, particularly for women and children who fall victim to criminal acts,” said General Sigret.

According to the Chief, women and children who are victims of crime require specialised handling as they often face complex issues. Consequently, an integrated service system is necessary so that victims do not encounter difficulties when seeking assistance.

“Therefore, what is being implemented today serves as a form of the state’s presence and support for services provided to women and children experiencing crime or criminal acts,” he added.

General Sigit expressed hope that the integrated services, which are beginning their trial in Jakarta, will ensure that victims receive comprehensive protection and do not face new complications during the handling process. He noted that if the implementation in Jakarta proves effective, the programme could serve as a model for other regions across the country.

General Sigit emphasised that the National Police is prepared to provide full support through the Directorate of Protection for Women and Children (PPA), which has been established and is being strengthened at both regional (Polda) and local (Polres) police levels. He asserted that the Directorate is ready to collaborate with all relevant ministries to provide the best possible service to victims.

The integrated service programme is an implementation of Presidential Regulation Number 86 of 2024. Under this scheme, victims of violence against women and children are expected to report through a single window, while services from various ministries and agencies will be integrated to accelerate case handling.
