National Police Chief: Security Stability is a Primary Requirement for Investment
Indonesian National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, has emphasised that security stability is a primary requirement in the world of investment. This is essential to create a conducive investment climate and to ensure the continuity of business activities.
General Sigit made these remarks during the Grand Consolidation of the Federation of Indonesian Metal Workers’ Unions (FSPMI) at the MM2100 Industrial Estate, Bekasi Regency, West Java, on Friday (11/09/2026). The event, titled ‘Industrial Relations, Justice, and Investment Conduciveness’, was attended by approximately 2,000 workers from around 1,200 companies.
“One thing we must maintain is how the investment climate remains conducive. Public order and security stability are primary requirements,” General Sigit stated at the location.
General Sigit noted that Indonesia possesses great potential as an investment destination, supported by its abundant natural resources and a vast domestic market. This potential must be strengthened by a healthy business climate and legal certainty.
Maintaining security within industrial estates does not only provide a sense of safety to entrepreneurs and investors. This, Sigit added, also guarantees the operational continuity of companies and job security for labourers.
This is particularly important amidst the government’s efforts to encourage downstreaming in various strategic sectors, ranging from minerals and energy to food and manufacturing. These policies are aimed at increasing added value while simultaneously creating broader employment opportunities.
The National Police Chief assured that the Indonesian National Police (Polri) will continue to be present to maintain security so that investment and business activities can proceed smoothly.
“Polri wants to reassure entrepreneurs and investors that Indonesia is a safe and conducive place to invest,” he said.
General Sigit urged business actors not to hesitate in reporting practices of illegal levies (extortion), thuggery, or any other crimes that disrupt company activities. Every report must be promptly followed up by the police ranks in accordance with applicable legal provisions.
“For entrepreneurs and companies that still encounter acts of thuggery, extortion, or other crimes, please report them. I request the police to take immediate action so that investors do not hesitate to enter Indonesia,” he asserted.
In addition to security, General Sigit mentioned that harmonious industrial relations also determine the sustainability of the business world. Any differences between workers and companies should be resolved through communication, dialogue, and deliberation.
Companies were also requested not to view labourers merely as production factors, but as assets, partners, and part of the family. The Police Chief assessed that worker welfare, business sustainability, and security stability are three elements that must be maintained in balance.
“With the spirit of unity, partnership, mutual respect, and mutual cooperation, let us realise an advanced business world, increasingly prosperous workers, and maintained public order stability,” he concluded.
