National Police Chief Reveals Prabowo's Message for TNI-Polri to Face Global Threats

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has revealed President Prabowo Subianto’s message for the TNI and Polri amid global geopolitical dynamics.

During his remarks at an Iftar gathering at Bhayangkara Field at National Police Headquarters, Sigit stated that Prabowo has called for TNI-Polri to remain solid to ensure Indonesia’s security stability is maintained.

“The President has repeatedly conveyed in his speeches that the TNI and Polri must always be united, cohesive and work in synergy,” he told reporters on Wednesday (11 March).

“He has stated that TNI and Polri were both born from the struggle for independence and played a role in defending it. Therefore, he consistently emphasises that the TNI must be the people’s TNI, and Polri must be the people’s police,” he added.

He reminded that the duty to safeguard security and defence is noble work that must be instilled in each member of TNI-Polri.

“So that TNI-Polri can truly carry out the mandate of facing the existing global dynamics and addressing its impacts and threats to the domestic situation,” he said.

Furthermore, Sigit referenced Indonesia’s experience of 350 years of colonisation under the Dutch divide-and-conquer political strategy, which should serve as a lesson for TNI-Polri to remain solid and united.

“On one hand, we have experienced being divided. Our choice is to unite in diversity or to be incited and divided, leading to our decline. It is our shared duty to protect our beloved NKRI,” he stated.

Finally, Sigit urged TNI and Polri to always work together with the people, religious leaders and all segments of the nation to maintain the existing unity and cohesion.

“This is what we must continually protect—the partnership between TNI-Polri and the people as one entity to safeguard our beloved NKRI homeland,” he said.
