National Police Chief Reshuffles Three Strategic Police Chief Posts in Greater Jakarta
Jakarta – A reshuffle has again taken place within the Indonesian National Police. National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has replaced three police chiefs serving under the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police.
The changes are set out in National Police Chief Telegram Number ST/1879/VIII/KEP./2026, issued on 30 August 2026.
The three positions affected are the North Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief, the Tangerang City Metropolitan Police Chief, and the Bekasi Metropolitan Police Chief.
In North Jakarta, the post previously held by Senior Commissioner Erick Frendriz has now been entrusted to Senior Commissioner Adhie Hariadi.
Meanwhile in Tangerang, Senior Commissioner Raden Muhammad Jauhari has moved from the position of Tangerang City Metropolitan Police Chief. The post will now be filled by Senior Commissioner Eko Bagus Riyadi.
The next change occurred in Bekasi. Senior Commissioner Sumarni no longer serves as Bekasi Metropolitan Police Chief and has been replaced by Senior Commissioner Andi Oddang Riuh Hutomo.
The rotation of the three police chiefs is part of a transfer of a number of high-ranking and mid-ranking police officers carried out by the National Police Chief at the end of August 2026.
Head of the National Police Public Relations Division, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, said the change of positions is part of organisational dynamics as well as personnel career development.
According to him, the placement of new officials is carried out by considering organisational needs, competence, experience, and the challenges of duty in each region.
“Transfers and rotations are part of organisational dynamics and personnel career development. Placement in new positions has of course been adjusted to organisational needs, competence, and the challenges of duty faced,” Isir said in his statement on Monday, 31 August 2026.
Isir asked officials receiving new assignments to adapt immediately and ensure that services to the public continue to run optimally.
“Every position is a mandate and a responsibility. We hope that officials receiving new assignments can adapt quickly, continue existing programmes, and improve the quality of task execution and service to the public,” he said.
With this rotation, three strategic areas around Jakarta now have new police leadership. The appointed officials will subsequently carry out their duties in accordance with organisational needs and the security challenges in their respective areas.
