National Police Chief Reports Maize Harvest Results to President Prabowo
The Head of the Indonesian National Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, reported the results of their maize harvest to President Prabowo Subianto. Sigit stated that the maize harvested by the police force amounted to millions of tons.
Sigit reported on the police’s performance in the food sector during a harvest event in Tuban, East Java, on Saturday, 16 May 2026. The event was also attended by President Prabowo.
In 2025, according to Sigit, the police force planted maize across an area of 661,112 hectares. The result was a harvest of 3.9 million tons. “This also contributes to increasing national maize production in 2025,” said Sigit, as broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat.
Meanwhile, in January 2026, Sigit said that the police force conducted a first-quarter harvest across an area of 91 thousand hectares, with a harvest yield of 884,129 tons. “Furthermore, today, led by Mr. President, we will carry out a simultaneous second-quarter maize harvest across an area of 189,760 hectares, with the potential for a harvest yield of around 1.23 million tons,” he said.
Listyo conveyed that approximately 100 tons of the harvested maize would be exported to Malaysia. He claimed that farmers also benefited from this maize export.
At the same event, Prabowo expressed pride in seeing the achievements of the National Police. Prabowo believes that the success of the police force in the food sector is inseparable from the leadership of the Chief of Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
“If it’s good, then we must acknowledge that it’s good, and in an organization, if the organization is good, then the leader is good. Right?” said Prabowo.
The Chairman of the Gerindra Party likened the National Police to a football team. If the National Police is a football team, Prabowo said, then Sigit, as the coach, will continue to receive recognition in the form of contract extensions for achieving victory.
Prabowo cited Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman, who received the Utama Jasa Award from Prabowo for food self-sufficiency. Prabowo then said that the National Police has also achieved success and that the Chief of Police deserves to receive the Mahaputra Star.
“It turns out I see that the National Police is achieving success. The Chief of Police has never received the Mahaputra Star, right? Later, President Prabowo will give him the star,” said the former Minister of Defense.
During today’s harvest event, Prabowo and Police Chief Sigit also went down to the maize fields to participate in the harvest. Prabowo was seen riding a corn reaper tractor, a mechanical harvesting tool designed specifically to cut and collect maize plants during the harvesting process.
