The National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, affirmed his force’s readiness to secure the Eid homecoming exodus this year, including deploying police personnel to conduct direct security operations aboard ferry vessels to prevent criminal activities.

The statement was made during the Chief’s inspection of Eid travel services and infrastructure readiness at Merak Port, Cilegon City, Banten Province, on Friday.

“We are preparing security measures aboard the vessels. Where there are particular areas that may require preventative measures due to crime risks or security threats, our personnel have been placed on standby,” he stated.

Beyond tightening security at ports and vessels, the National Police Chief also highlighted several innovations resulting from coordination between the state-owned ferry operator ASDP, the Banten Regional Police, and the Lampung Regional Police. Innovations such as additional support facilities and operation of alternative ports are expected to reduce queuing problems that occur annually.

To ensure smooth implementation in the field, the National Police Chief instructed his personnel to intensify outreach regarding new policies, including the online ticket sales system and queue management protocols across all berths.

He also called for optimisation of the Command Centre for real-time situation management, as well as establishment of a Media Centre to serve as an information resource for the public.

Furthermore, the National Police Chief urged homebound travellers not to hesitate in using the various services provided, ranging from security posts, integrated service counters, to rest areas.

“Please make good use of these services. We hope this homecoming can truly be carried out safely and smoothly, providing maximum service in accordance with the President’s direction,” he said.
