National Police Chief Pays Tribute to Sixth Vice President Try Sutrisno as Role Model and Exemplary Figure
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo expressed profound condolences over the passing of Indonesia’s sixth Vice President Try Sutrisno on Monday, 2 March.
Sigit recalled that Try had rendered considerable service to the nation and state throughout his lifetime and had been a senior figure and role model for the National Police.
“I offer my heartfelt condolences on the death of our late sixth Vice President Try Sutrisno. May the Almighty accept his deeds, grant him a good end, and bestow strength and patience upon his bereaved family,” he stated in a written statement.
Sigit further commemorated all of Try’s contributions and exemplary conduct both during his tenure in the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and as Vice President.
“Farewell, late Vice President Try Sutrisno. Farewell, national hero. We shall forever cherish all your exemplary conduct and good deeds,” he concluded.
Retired General Try Sutrisno, Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, passed away on Monday, 2 March at the age of 90. According to Albertus Budi Sulistya, former head of Gatot Soebroto Military Hospital, Sutrisno breathed his last at approximately 06:58 Western Indonesian Time.
“Retired General Try Sutrisno passed away on Monday, 2 March 2026 at 06:58 at Gatot Soebroto Military Hospital,” said Sulistya, who previously served as presidential physician, via text message.
The late Vice President’s body was subsequently laid at his private residence on Purwakarta Street in Menteng, Central Jakarta, before burial arrangements.
