Indonesia’s National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo inaugurated the Red and White Precision Bridge in Gobah Village, Tambang Subdistrict, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. Riau Regional Police Chief Irjen Pol Herry Heryawan stated that the bridge’s construction represents the police force’s role as protector of civilisation.

In his address, Irjen Herry Heryawan explained that the bridge implements the directive of President Prabowo Subianto through National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo for development to reach regional areas.

“This is a most noble mandate, one that affirms that the police force directly acts as guardian of civilisation,” said Irjen Herry Heryawan at the site on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.

Attending the event were Deputy Minister of Forestry Rohmat Marzuki and his delegation. Also present were Acting Governor of Riau SF Hariyanto alongside regional leadership including the Chair of the Riau Regional Parliament Kaderismanto and the Commander of Military Regional Command XIX/Tuanku Tambusai Major General Agus Hadi Waluyo. Religious and community leaders from Riau also attended.

The National Police Chief was accompanied by senior police headquarters officials including the Head of Intelligence Komjen Yuda Gustawan, the Head of Criminal Investigation Komjen Syahardiantono, the Commander of Mobile Brigade Komjen Ramdani Hidayat, and the Head of Public Relations Irjen Johnny Eddizon Isir.

The Regional Police Chief described bridge construction as major work in building civilisation, aligned with the theme “Bridging Civilisation, Reaching Hope”. Notably, Malay civilisation originated from rivers in the Lancang Kuning land, including the Siak River, Rokan River, Indragiri River and Kampar River.

“And the Kampar River, which lies right behind us now, civilisation always grows from connectivity and collectivity. No great civilisation emerges from isolation. Civilisation develops when people connect with one another, learn from each other, interact, strengthen one another, and build together,” explained the 1996 Police Academy graduate.

The Regional Police Chief explained that the project embodies the spirit of Precision Police (Predictive, Accountability, and Justice-Based Transparency). According to him, the police force is not merely present in law enforcement but also serves as an engine for community service.

“Thus, Precision represents our National Police Chief’s vision that emphasises the ethics of service. Precision is how we ensure that every step of the police force is valuable and beneficial to the community,” he added.

The two-star general further noted that through the Red and White Precision Bridge project, the Riau Police Force has learned much from the National Police Chief’s leadership.

“That great leadership is not merely about following state orders, but being able to translate them into touchpoints of genuine meaning in people’s lives and hearts,” he said.

Earlier, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the Red and White Precision Bridge’s construction represents tangible collaboration between the police force and various parties to assist communities, particularly in regions that previously faced difficult transportation access. The bridges are expected to reduce travel distances and facilitate logistics distribution that will improve community economies.

The Red and White Precision Bridge in Gobah Village, Tambang Subdistrict, Kampar Regency is one of 27 bridge projects constructed by the Riau Regional Police in just under a month. The concrete bridge has dimensions of 27.5 metres in length and 4 metres in width.

The bridge’s presence is expected to serve as a new lifeline improving village connectivity and boosting the local economy. Additionally, the bridge provides access for children to reach their schools.

Regional authorities and local communities enthusiastically welcomed the inauguration. For them, every metre of the bridge represents a sure step towards a brighter future for Kampar’s children.
