National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo continued his inspection of the 2026 Eid mudik exodus by visiting Purabaya Terminal in East Java. The visit aimed to ensure the roadworthiness of public transport vehicles and the safety of travellers using overland routes.

General Sigit and his entourage arrived at Purabaya Terminal, Bungurasih, Sidoarjo, East Java, on Sunday, 15 March 2026, at approximately 10.40 Western Indonesian Time. The National Police Chief’s arrival was welcomed by terminal authorities and local police officials.

Upon arrival, the Kapolri immediately greeted travellers awaiting departure in the waiting areas on the first and second floors. General Sigit held discussions with several residents to ensure they were receiving good service at the terminal.

Beyond the waiting areas, the Kapolri also boarded buses to directly greet passengers prepared to depart. During this visit, the Kapolri distributed gift packages to passengers as a token of appreciation and support for those conducting the mudik journey.

Vehicle Safety Inspections and Driver Testing

To ensure safe travel, General Sigit directly observed the implementation of ramp checks, or vehicle safety inspections, conducted by officers from the East Java II Land Transport Management Agency (BPTD).

In addition to bus roadworthiness, the Kapolri also monitored the urine testing of bus drivers at health check posts. This was undertaken to ensure bus crews were in prime condition and free from the influence of illegal drugs or other dangerous substances, for passenger safety.

During this inspection series, the Kapolri received a briefing on mudik readiness at Purabaya Terminal presented by the Operations Chief of the East Java Regional Police (Polda Jatim). The briefing covered security strategies, vehicle flow management, and anticipation of congestion points around the terminal area.

As appreciation for the officers on duty, the Kapolri symbolically handed over 69 gift packages to representatives of terminal staff.

Those accompanying the Kapolri during this inspection included East Java Deputy Governor Emil Elestianto Dardak, East Java Regional Police Chief Irjen Pol. Nanang Avianto, and V/Brawijaya Military Command Deputy Brigadier General Zainul Bahar.
