National Police Chief Meets 6,500 Garda Satya NKRI Members in Solo

Semarang (ANTARA) - The National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, met with 6,500 members of Garda Satya NKRI, consisting of former members of Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) from East Java, Central Java, and the Special Region of Yogyakarta, in Solo, Central Java, on Sunday.

The Police Chief stated that these former JI members have demonstrated a conscious commitment to returning to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

“As part of our commitment, following their return to the NKRI, the entire Garda Nusantara and Garda Satya family clearly feels a calling to provide tangible contributions to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,” he said.

He noted that the meeting with the former Jamaah Islamiyah fighters, now part of Garda Satya NKRI, was also held in conjunction with celebrations for the 81st Independence Day.

“We discussed how they possess a strong desire to actualise their skills in the fields they are currently pursuing, including entrepreneurship, the economy, and religious outreach (dakwah),” he added.

He further stated that the members of Garda Satya NKRI are prepared to contribute and stand ready to face various threats and challenges that could endanger the nation and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

“On behalf of the National Police and the state, I express my gratitude for the continuous growth of the Garda Satya Nusantara family,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Commander of the National Police Anti-Terror Squad (Densus 88), Inspector General Sentot Prasetyo, conveyed the police’s full commitment to overseeing the social reintegration process of former JI members to ensure their loyalty to the Pancasila ideology.

To date, he noted, as many as 7,942 former members across 28 provinces have been actively participating in economic independence training and development programmes facilitated by the National Police in collaboration with relevant ministries.
