National Police Chief Leads Groundbreaking for DIY Provincial Police Headquarters, Commitment to Enhance Services
The ceremony took place at the construction site of Mapolda DIY on Jalan Bibis, Godean, Sleman Regency, on Sunday (3/5/2026). Under the theme ‘Building a Precise Bhayangkara, Harmonising the Welfare of the World’, the event served as a symbol of the Indonesian National Police’s (Polri) infrastructure transformation while upholding local cultural values.
The National Police Chief arrived at the site around 10:00 WIB and was welcomed by the Governor of DIY Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, GKR Condrokirono, KPH Yudanegara, and DIY Provincial Police Chief Inspector General Anggoro Sukartono.
The construction of Mapolda DIY on this new land has strong legal backing through support from the Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat. The Sultanate’s land has obtained a Certificate of Title, which was previously handed over to Polda DIY.
The land’s status has been upgraded from Serat Palilah to Certificate of Title, affirming the close synergy between Polri and the Keraton in supporting the development of public facilities in Yogyakarta.
During the event, General Sigit received an explanation of the construction model from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) architect Ir. Yohanes Pekik. The building is designed to support Polri’s transformation towards a Precise Polri with modern facilities, while still considering environmental aspects such as irrigation channels in the Godean area.
The project, undertaken by PT Adi Karya, is projected to be completed in November 2026.
The highlight of the event was the groundbreaking by the National Police Chief, accompanied by the Governor of DIY, GKR Condrokirono, and the DIY Provincial Police Chief. General Sigit also signed the cornerstone as a symbol of the project’s commencement.
Several main officials from National Police Headquarters attended to accompany the National Police Chief, including National Police Chief’s Logistics Assistant Inspector General Suwondo Nainggolan and Head of Police Public Relations Division Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir. Also present were members of the DIY Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, Commander of Kodam IV/Diponegoro Brigadier General Yuniar Dwi Hantono, regents and mayors throughout DIY Province, as well as academics, religious figures, community leaders, and artists.
