National Police Chief: Kompolnas a Strategic Partner in Police Reform Efforts
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo attended the 2026 Fiscal Year Coordination Meeting for Supervision (Rakorwas) of the National Police Commission (Kompolnas). During the event, General Sigit reaffirmed that Kompolnas is not merely an external oversight body, but a strategic partner to the Indonesian National Police (Polri).
In the session, titled ‘Supervising the Acceleration of Institutional and Managerial Reform of Polri’, General Sigit assessed that the presence of Kompolnas is crucial in helping the police force absorb public perceptions and expectations.
“This forum is very important because Kompolnas is a strategic partner for Polri. On one hand, Kompolnas provides recommendations to the President, but on the other hand, it also relates to institutional policies and the future direction of the police,” said General Sigit in the Ancol area, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (10/6/2026).
The National Police Chief explained that Kompolnas plays a significant role in channeling public complaints, which are then used as material for internal evaluation. According to him, the oversight provided by Kompolnas helps keep the police force guarded against potential deviations from their primary duties.
“Of course, our hope is that the role of Kompollar as a strategic partner can continue to ensure that the Polri institution operates in accordance with public expectations and the findings of the reform commission team,” he added.
Consequently, he expressed hope that this coordination meeting would serve as a forum to further strengthen synergy and cooperation between Kompolnas and Polri moving forward. By doing so, Sigit stated, the Bhayangkara Corps will become an institution loved by the people.
“I believe the cooperation that has been running well between Kompolnas and Polri, particularly in terms of supervision, attending to public concerns, and implementing improvements, will ensure that this institution remains adaptive, modern, and capable of continuously adapting to the expectations of the community,” he concluded.
