National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has instructed all ranks of the police force to increase vigilance and intensify security patrols ahead of the anticipated peak of the homebound migration for Eid 2026.

He stated that security operations would not only focus on traffic congestion points but also on residential areas vacated by residents travelling to their hometowns, particularly during the peak migration period.

“I have instructed all officers to continue providing the best service, especially as we approach the peak exodus period, typically expected two days before Eid,” said Listyo whilst inspecting operations at Gubeng Station in Surabaya on Sunday, 15 March.

The Police Chief directed subordinates to conduct regular sweeps in areas prone to crime, including bus terminals and residential neighbourhoods.

This initiative is a preventive measure to reduce crime rates, based on evaluation of public order and security incidents during previous years’ migrations.

“Patrols in and around terminal areas, including abandoned homes and potential crime hotspots from previous years, provide important lessons for improvement so we can reduce incidents this year,” he said.

Furthermore, Listyo assured that the government remains fully committed to providing a safe and comfortable experience for all citizens during the 2026 Eid celebration.

“The government will certainly provide the best and maximum possible service for the 2026 migration period. We hope that all relevant stakeholders will work together and cooperate to deliver the best service to the community,” he concluded.
