National Police Chief Inaugurates Bayah Bridge in Lebak, Benefiting 8,000 Residents

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has officially inaugurated the Merah Putih Presisi Bridge, with the ceremony centred in Bayah Barat Village, Bayah, Lebak, Banten. The bridge connects Bayah Barat Village with Darmasari Village and is expected to directly benefit 8,000 residents.

Sigit made the statement while reporting to President Prabowo Subianto during a hybrid ceremony on Thursday, 13 August 2026, which marked the completion of 3,395 TNI-Polri bridges and 3,000 clean water sources by the Indonesian Army. “This bridge will facilitate the distribution of agricultural produce and trade, ease access for students to schools, and foster the growth of new economic centres in rural areas,” Sigit reported to Prabowo.

During the event in Lebak, the National Police also distributed 7,500 basic food packages, 1,000 student bags, and 140 pairs of free glasses, extended driving licences for 81 online motorcycle taxi drivers free of charge, and held a health service. Sigit noted that these efforts are part of the police’s commitment to providing broad and direct benefits to communities near the project sites.

Sigit acknowledged that the efforts undertaken are still far from perfect and requested continued guidance from President Prabowo. He reiterated the President’s message from the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration, that the police are born from the people and must always be the people’s police.

In his report, Sigit stated that the police have independently built and revitalised 895 Merah Putih Presisi bridges across 30 regional police jurisdictions. Of these, 874 units have been completed, 17 are under construction, and four are in the planning stage. The total length of the bridges built and renovated reaches 19.2 kilometres, connecting 1,314 villages and benefiting two million people.
