National Police Chief Inaugurates 80 'Merah Putih Presisi' Bridges in Riau

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo arrived in Dumai City, Riau, to inaugurate 80 ‘Merah Putih Presisi’ bridges on Wednesday (8/7/2026). The bridges, scattered across various districts and municipalities in the province, serve as a special gift coinciding with the 80th Police Day (Hari Bhayangkara).

General Sigit was accompanied by the Head of the Police Mobile Brigade Corps, Commissioner General Ramdani Hidayat; the Head of the Police Security Intelligence Agency, Commissioner General Yuda Gustawan; and the Assistant for Logistics, Commissioner General Suwondo Nainggolan. The entourage was welcomed by Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan and Military Commander XIX/Tuanku Tambusai Major General Agus Hadi Waluyo, along with Dumai Mayor Paisal.

Upon arrival at the location in Bumi Ayu Village, South Dumai District, the National Police Chief was greeted with a traditional ceremony, including the donning of a Tanjak Melayu headdress as a symbol of honour. The atmosphere was lively, with local schoolchildren chanting welcome yells and groups of workers and residents expressing their enthusiasm for the new infrastructure.

Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan stated that the construction of the bridges is a direct implementation of President Prabowo Subianto’s directive, channelled through the National Police Chief, to ensure development reaches remote areas and genuinely benefits the community. He emphasised that the project symbolises the synergy between the police, local government, the private sector, and volunteers. “This is a mandate that confirms the Police’s presence as guardians of civilisation,” he said.

With the completion of this second phase, the Riau Regional Police have now built a total of 110 bridges across the province. The new infrastructure is expected to significantly reduce travel times between isolated villages, improve safety for daily activities, and facilitate the distribution of local agricultural produce and goods. Authorities hope the improved connectivity will foster more equitable and sustainable economic growth from villages to cities throughout Riau.
