National Police Chief Highlights the Importance of Media in the Age of AI

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Police Chief, General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, highlighted the importance of the media’s role in the era of artificial intelligence (AI).

At the “Police Breaking Fast with the Press” event at the Police Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday, he stated that technological developments are currently progressing very rapidly, including the emergence of AI deepfakes, which have a significant impact.

According to the Global Risk Report, he said, one of the things that has a global impact is misinformation and disinformation.

“This is not only happening on a global scale, but also in our domestic situation, in our daily lives, and this is certainly a challenge for all of us,” he said.

Therefore, he believes that the media is the public’s hope for conveying factual and trustworthy information.

“So that the public is not overwhelmed and carried away by misinformation or disinformation, which is happening extraordinarily, especially on social media,” he said.

The leader of the National Police also hopes that the media can be a tool for control and a means of communication that represents the voice of the public, especially for the Police and other institutions.

In addition, he invited the media to participate in synergy to maintain national security stability.

“Therefore, of course, we would like to express our highest gratitude and appreciation to our friends in the media who continue to provide information,” he said.
