JAKARTA — National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the Indonesian National Police (Polri) will guarantee protection to anyone providing information regarding the acid attack incident against KontraS (Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence) activist Andrie Yunus.

According to him, Polri is currently gathering various pieces of information and examining them individually. The police have also established a complaint post so that members of the public with information can submit reports directly.

“We will provide guidance. Clearly, all information provided by the public will be given protection guarantees,” Sigit said in a statement from the Indonesian Government Communications Agency (Bakom) on Monday (16 March 2026).

“Because this has indeed become a serious concern for the President,” he added.

Sigit stated that he has received a direct order from President Prabowo Subianto to thoroughly investigate the acid attack case. Polri is prioritising scientific crime investigation methods that emphasise physical evidence and expert analysis (forensic laboratory, DNA, digital, and medical analysis) over witness statements or suspect accounts alone.

“I have received a direct order from the President to conduct thorough, professional, and transparent investigation, and the steps we take will certainly prioritise scientific crime investigation,” Sigit said.
