National Police Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto shared the account of his initial preparations for the fit and proper test at the House of Representatives (DPR) leading up to his inauguration. Suyudi admitted that he only received news of his nomination as National Police Chief this morning.

“We only received the information this morning, so we immediately prepared ourselves to undergo the fit and proper test,” said Suyudi following his inauguration at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday (1/10/2026).

Suyudi stated that upon receiving the news, he immediately worked on refining the concepts for the parliamentary scrutiny.

“We already had the concepts in place, but naturally, within such limited time, we had to further refine them,” he added.

As previously reported, President Prabowo inaugurated General Suyudi Ario Seto as the National Police Chief, succeeding General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. General Listyo Sigit is understood to have transitioned to the role of Chief of Staff to the President.

The appointment was made based on Presidential Decrees Number 96 and 97 of the National Police Year 2026 regarding the Dismissal and Appointment of the Chief of the Indonesian National Police and the Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Police.
