National Police Chief: Garda Satya NKRI to Serve as Polri Partner in Preserving National Integrity
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that Garda Satya NKRI plays a significant role as a partner to the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in maintaining public security and order (kamtibmas). Garda Satya NKRI is also expected to help nurture unity and preserve the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
General Sigit made these remarks during a celebration for the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia and a gathering between the National Police Chief and Garda Satya NKRI on Sunday (30/08/2026). The event was held under the theme ‘Building Indonesia Together with the Ummah’.
Garda Satya NKRI serves as a forum for former members and sympathisers of Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) who have reaffirmed their national commitment, declared their loyalty to the NKRI, and committed to taking a positive role as part of the frontline in maintaining public order and national integrity under the coordination of the National Police. The National Police Chief described the decision of Garda Satya NKlar members to reaffirm their commitment to the NKRI as a noble and courageous step, noting that the decision is rooted in a spirit of nationalism.
“The decision to serve as Garda Satya NKRI is a calling of conscience to be a guard that remains loyal to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,” Sigit said in his address.
The National Police Chief noted that the spirit, militancy, discipline, courage, and cohesion possessed by Garda Satya NKRI can be directed to become a positive force for the nation. He expressed hope that Garda Satya NKRI could play a part in maintaining security, nurturing unity, and defending the integrity of the nation and state.
“Including when the nation and state face situations that require your role, I hope Garda Satya NKRI is ready to stand alongside Polri and all components of the nation as part of the guard of the NKRI,” he said.
Sigit emphasised that the role of Garda Satya NKRI extends beyond mere national commitment. The organisation is expected to continue serving as a partner to the police and the government in maintaining public order, strengthening community resilience, and supporting national development.
Sigit also encouraged members of Garda Satya NKRI to take on productive roles according to their respective abilities. These roles include strengthening family economies, food security, entrepreneurship, and community social activities.
According to Sigit, a nation’s resilience is not only determined by its ability to face threats. Community independence, economic strength, and the solidity of unity and cohesion are also vital factors. He stated that the National Police will continue to maintain togetherness and accompany the extended family of Garda Satya NKRI in every positive step forward.
“Because for me, the brotherhood we have built is not a temporary brotherhood, but an everlasting brotherhood (saduluran saklawase)—a brotherhood we will always maintain in our service to the community, nation, and state,” said the National Police Chief.
Sigit expressed his hope that Garda Satya NKRI would continue to grow into a platform that provides benefits to the community. He also hoped that Garda Satya NKRI would become part of the nation’s strength in maintaining unity and building Indonesia.
