National Police Chief Establishes Complaint Post for Acid Attack Case Against Activist Andrie Yunus

JAKARTA — National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo will establish a public complaint post regarding the acid attack against Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Disappearances and Victims of Violence (KontraS), Andrie Yunus.

“We will also set up a complaint post so that members of the public who may have information and wish to report can directly file their reports to the post, which we will then follow up,” Listyo stated during a press briefing at Surabaya’s main railway station in East Java on Sunday, 15 March 2026.

Listyo explained that information provided by the public would assist police in resolving the case.

“We will provide protection guarantees. I believe that is important,” he said.

“We are currently gathering various pieces of information and these will be examined one by one,” he added.

The National Police Chief has ordered his personnel to conduct thorough work and systematically collect information.

“Both from the complaint post and from police public relations, which we have specifically requested to provide information, given that this has become a matter of serious concern to the President,” he stated.

In a related development, the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Disappearances and Victims of Violence, officially moved to the investigation phase on Saturday, 14 March 2026.

“Yes, it has moved to investigation,” confirmed Roby when contacted by journalists on Saturday, 14 March 2026.

Nevertheless, investigators are currently focused on identifying the perpetrator and have not yet named any suspects.

Roby explained that suspect identification can only occur after the case enters the investigation phase.

“Yes, suspect designation comes after the case moves to investigation,” he said.

“The perpetrator’s identity remains under investigation,” Roby stated.
