National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has instructed the establishment of a complaint hotline regarding the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. This measure aims to facilitate members of the public who possess crucial information about the incident.

“We will also establish a complaint hotline so that members of the public who may have information and wish to provide it can submit reports directly to the hotline, and we will then guide them,” General Sigit said after overseeing exodus traffic at Surabaya Gubeng Station in East Java on Sunday, 15 March 2026.

General Sigit emphasised that he has received a direct order from President Prabowo Subianto to thoroughly investigate the case. He assured the public that the National Police will work professionally and transparently using scientific methods.

“The measures we are taking will certainly prioritise Scientific Crime Investigation. At present, we are gathering information, and this information will subsequently be examined one by one,” he stated.

The National Police Chief urged the public not to hesitate in providing information. He provided full assurances that the identities and safety of informants would be protected by the police.

“All information provided by members of the public who assist us will be protected,” Sigit affirmed.

Currently, police forces operating under the coordination of the National Police Headquarters and Metro Jaya Police continue fieldwork. General Sigit pledged that case developments would be disclosed regularly to the public.

“Regularly, after developments emerge from the information gathered, we will inform the public, whether through the complaint hotline or through the Police Public Relations office,” he explained.

The acid attack previously occurred against KontraS deputy coordinator Andrie Yunus in the Salemba area of Central Jakarta on Thursday evening, 12 March. The victim sustained serious burns covering 24 per cent of his body. Police are currently pursuing two suspects captured on CCTV riding a motorcycle together during the attack.
