National Police Chief Emphasises Unity During Ramadan Safari in Riau
Jakarta (ANTARA) — National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has emphasised the need to strengthen solidarity and uphold the values of national unity during a Ramadan Safari event held at Al-Adzim Mosque at the Riau Regional Police Headquarters in Pekanbaru, Riau, on Tuesday.
At the gathering, which brought together various elements of society, the National Police Chief called for continued preservation and enhancement of unity and cohesion, stating that these are fundamental to confronting all national challenges.
Prabowo noted that Indonesia faces a demographic dividend opportunity that must be strategically leveraged to propel the nation towards developed country status. “Amidst the dynamics of our differences, we must remain united to guide Indonesia in accordance with our vision: to become a great nation ranking third or fourth in the world,” he stated.
The National Police Chief reaffirmed his commitment to democracy whilst cautioning against narratives that could fracture national cohesion. “I must emphasise that we must prevent activities from being infiltrated by elements that could divide our unity and solidarity, which would ultimately cause national regression,” he said.
Prabowo called upon all elements of society to enhance human resource quality to effectively manage Indonesia’s natural wealth, ensuring national self-sufficiency and benefits for future generations. He acknowledged the global economic challenges facing the nation, stating that the government is implementing mitigation measures to protect the domestic economy.
“Indonesia must remain secure, our economy must continue to grow. Our programmes aimed at guiding Indonesia towards achieving our national objectives—a just and prosperous society—represent our collective hope that we must protect,” he added.
The National Police Chief assured that the Indonesian National Police will continue building partnerships to develop community policing, enabling the force to work alongside society in maintaining security and public order as a foundation for Indonesia’s development and economic growth.
The Ramadan Safari in Riau was attended by religious leaders, community members, university rectors, labour union representatives, non-governmental organisations, students, and online motorcycle taxi operators. During the event, the National Police Chief also signed a plaque for the renovation of Al-Adzim Mosque and formally inaugurated the Riau special task force for preventing termination of employment and community-based online motorcycle taxi security operations.
