National Police Chief Emphasises TNI-Polri Solidarity as Key to Safeguarding Indonesia's Security Stability
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has emphasised the importance of TNI-Polri solidarity in maintaining national security stability. This support is also essential to backing various government strategic programmes whilst ensuring a conducive investment climate in Indonesia.
The statement was made by General Sigit during remarks at a joint iftar (breaking of fast) event between TNI-Polri at Bhayangkara Field at National Police Headquarters in South Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
In his presentation, General Sigit noted that the government under President Prabowo Subianto’s leadership continues to promote several strategic programmes. These measures aim to strengthen national self-reliance, particularly in food security and energy sectors.
“In recent times, the President has been continuously pushing various programmes, especially in addressing the current situation so that Indonesia can truly stand on its own feet,” General Sigit said.
He highlighted that one of the government’s primary focuses is strengthening food security through various efforts, including involving communities alongside TNI-Polri.
“The people and TNI-Polri are key spearheads in how we are directly involved in maintaining food security, in rice farming, and in maize cultivation,” he explained.
According to General Sigit, these efforts are already showing results. He stated that the government has reported achieving rice self-sufficiency and is now targeting maize self-sufficiency.
“In recent times, the President announced that we have achieved rice self-sufficiency and next we are targeting maize self-sufficiency. This is part of our efforts to continue achieving self-reliance amidst the crises we face,” he clarified.
Beyond food security, General Sigit also discussed various economic development programmes being intensified by the government, including industrial downstream development and the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.
In the industrial sector, the government is also promoting downstream development across various fields, ranging from bauxite ore to the automotive industry. This programme represents the government’s strategy to maintain national economic stability.
“In recent times, the President has announced programmes for downstream development in bauxite, programmes for development in the automotive sector, and then other industries,” General Sigit said.
Furthermore, the government is preparing several new programmes to encourage economic growth at community level, such as the Fishing Village Programme and the Red-White Cooperative (Koperasi Merah Putih).
“Going forward very soon there will be the Fishing Village Programme, the Red-White Cooperative Programme, and these are part of efforts to stimulate economies at the grassroots level,” General Sigit added.
In the energy sector, he continued, the government is also working to increase self-reliance, including promoting increased oil production through opening new wells and optimising existing wells.
Additionally, the government is developing renewable energy by leveraging agricultural commodities such as sugar cane, cassava, maize, and palm oil to produce alternative fuels.
“Similarly, palm oil can be processed into B40, B50, B100, and this can then substitute the need for diesel from fossil fuel energy,” he explained.
General Sigit stressed that all these government strategic programmes require strong security support from TNI-Polri to run optimally.
The National Police Chief emphasised that security stability is an important factor in maintaining investor confidence, both from domestic and foreign investors, so they continue to invest capital in Indonesia.
“On the other hand, we must certainly maintain a conducive investment climate so that investments opened through the aforementioned programmes can genuinely come in, whether foreign or domestic investment,” General Sigit clarified.
Furthermore, incoming investment will become a driver of national economic growth whilst opening more employment opportunities for the public.
“So that all of this becomes a movement and revival in order to continue ensuring that our economic growth can achieve the targets planned by the government,” he added.
On this occasion, General Sigit again emphasised the importance of solidarity between TNI and Polri in safeguarding national defence and security stability.
“Therefore, I continually stress the importance of TNI and Polri solidarity in overseeing various programmes. We must ensure that defence stability and security stability are truly maintained in the land of Indonesia,” he concluded.
