Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Police Chief, General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, distributed meals and held an iftar gathering with journalists as a form of maintaining good relations and strengthening the synergy between the National Police and the media.

“This is certainly part of our efforts to continuously maintain good relations, which is also one of our strengths,” he said at the National Police Headquarters building, Jakarta, Wednesday.

During the meal distribution event at around 4:30 PM, the National Police Chief, accompanied by senior officials of the National Police, along with journalists, distributed packages of iftar meals to all members of the public passing by in front of the National Police Headquarters.

The distribution of meals was enthusiastically received by the public, including online motorcycle taxi drivers.

The activity continued with an iftar gathering with journalists at the Rupatama Building of the National Police Headquarters.

In his speech, the National Police Chief said that the press is a strategic partner for the National Police institution. According to him, the voice of the media is the voice of the public.

“This is certainly a benchmark. When the media voices the public’s concerns, it means that we must immediately act and respond quickly. Because we realise that the voice of the media is the voice of the public that must be heard,” he said.

He also emphasised that the National Police institution has an obligation to carry out what the media continues to voice, given that the media represents the interests of the public.

“Our strength, the strength of our nation, is always maintaining unity to face various challenges, national challenges, and state challenges,” he said.
