Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chief of the Indonesian National Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, stated that the corn planting program implemented by the Police has successfully produced 3.9 million tons of corn throughout 2025 as part of the support for the national food self-sufficiency target.

“In 2025, the Police successfully carried out corn planting on an area of 661,112 hectares with a harvest of 3.9 million tons,” said Sigit in a statement in Jakarta, Saturday.

This was conveyed by the National Police Chief while delivering a report to President Prabowo Subianto at the simultaneous corn harvest festival in the second quarter of 2026 in Tuban Regency, East Java, Saturday.

According to the National Police Chief, this achievement also supports the increase in national corn production in 2025 by 6.74 percent or approximately 1.8 million tons compared to the previous period.

He explained that the Police still has the potential to develop corn land in 2026 covering 1.37 million hectares spread across various regions of Indonesia.

Sigit said that the first quarter harvest festival held on January 8, 2026, was carried out on an area of 91 thousand hectares with a yield of 884,129 tons of corn.

Meanwhile, in the second quarter of 2026 harvest festival led by President Prabowo in Tuban, the harvested area reached 189,760 hectares with a potential yield of around 1.23 million tons.

“As much as 100 tons of corn from the harvest will be exported to Malaysia through the Jagoi Babang border, Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan,” he said.

The National Police Chief said that cooperatives buy corn from farmers at a price of IDR 6,500 per kilogram and sell it to Malaysia at IDR 7,000 per kilogram, resulting in a profit margin of IDR 500 per kilogram.

According to Sigit, this pattern is part of an effort to strengthen the national food ecosystem while increasing the economic value of farmers’ harvests.

Specifically in Tuban Regency, the Police carried out a harvest festival on an area of social forestry of 101.5 hectares managed by four farmer groups, namely KTH Wono Lestari, LMDH Jenggolo Manik, LMDH Wono Mulyo, and land owned by PT Semen Indonesia.

“From this land area, the potential harvest is estimated to reach 609 tons and all of the harvest will be sent to Bulog to support strengthening the government’s food reserves and maintaining supply stability,” said Sigit.

In addition to the corn harvest festival, the agenda in Tuban was also combined with the laying of the first stone for the construction of 10 National Police food security warehouses and the launch of the operational of 166 National Police Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) to support the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.
