National Police Chief Conveys a Series of Farmers' Aspirations to Prabowo
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has communicated a series of farmers’ aspirations directly to the President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. These aspirations relate to improving welfare and increasing production.
Sigit conveyed this during a report presented before President Prabowo Subianto at an event involving the simultaneous second-quarter corn harvest, the groundbreaking ceremony for 10 police food security warehouses, and the launch of operations for 166 Police Agricultural Equipment Centers (SPPG) in Tuban Regency, East Java.
Sigit initially stated that the National Police has collaborated with state-owned banks to facilitate the distribution of People’s Business Credit (KUR) to meet farmers’ production needs. “This credit is used for purchasing seeds and fertilizers, pesticides such as herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides, financing tractor rentals for land preparation and cultivation, paying labor wages, and covering various other operational needs,” Sigit said on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
In this regard, Sigit expressed hope that President Prabowo would support strengthening access to KUR, both in terms of ease of access and increasing the amount of credit available. This will be used to open new land and support the process from upstream to downstream. “So that farmers can increase production capacity, business independence, and rural economic growth,” Sigit added.
Furthermore, Sigit explained that currently, 714 corn farmer groups under the guidance of the National Police in 42 police precincts across 8 regional police forces have utilized these facilities, with a total loan amount reaching IDR 30.03 billion.
In more detail, Sigit also conveyed the aspirations of farmers to President Prabowo. Among other things, farmer groups hope to receive more agricultural equipment, seeds, and fertilizers. “In addition, farmers hope to receive even more assistance related to seeds, fertilizers, and agricultural equipment, so that it can support increased production,” Sigit concluded.
