National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo today directly inspected the readiness of Central Java Regional Police (Polda Jateng) and all stakeholders in handling the Lebaran 2026 exodus and return traffic. The National Police Chief commended the readiness and various innovative measures prepared to serve homebound travellers.

General Sigit and his delegation conducted an inspection and received a briefing at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate Integrated Post in Semarang, Central Java, on Monday, 16 March 2026. The National Police Chief received a comprehensive briefing from Jasa Marga and Polda Jateng regarding readiness, including security strategies and mapping of congestion hotspots.

After receiving the briefing, General Sigit assessed that service readiness at the central point of the exodus into Central Java was already very good. He highlighted various traffic engineering schemes including odd-even number plates, contraflow, and national and local one-way systems that have been prepared on a massive scale.

“Alhamdulillah, I saw that from the service readiness perspective, starting from how to manage traffic engineering, from odd-even regulations, then contraflow, local one-way, and also channelling national one-way traffic, including innovations prepared such as valet and ride,” General Sigit said at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate Integrated Post.

General Sigit spoke accompanied by Operations Deputy Chief of the National Police Komjen Mohamad Fadil Imran, Central Java Regional Police Chief Irjen Ribut Hari Wibowo, National Police Public Affairs Chief Irjen Johnny Eddizon Isir, and National Traffic Police Chief Irjen Agus Suryonugroho. Also present was the Central Java Provincial Secretary Sumarno.

The National Police Chief also gave special attention to the Chat Sipolan innovation, an abbreviation for the Central Java Regional Traffic Police Information System, which makes it easier for the public to obtain exodus information. The Chat Sipolan messaging service is based on artificial intelligence that can be accessed via WhatsApp.

The application is expected to complement the 110 contact service in making it easier for the public to obtain information and police assistance along the exodus routes in the Central Java region.

As the peak exodus, predicted to occur at H-minus-3, approaches, the National Police Chief directed all ranks to focus on driver safety. He hoped that the prominent accident figures could continue to be reduced to lower levels compared to the previous year.

“Our hope as we approach the peak day is that accident figures can also be kept lower compared to the previous year. I leave a message that the synergy of all stakeholders can truly be felt by the public according to our slogan: ‘Smooth Exodus, Safe Exodus, Happy Families’,” he stressed.

The National Police Chief also took the opportunity to greet directly the public passing through towards their hometowns. General Sigit appeared to chat warmly with drivers to ensure their journey was smooth.

While distributing gift packages, the National Police Chief urged homebound travellers to prioritise safety and not to overexert themselves if they felt tired. This, he said, was in accordance with the Presidential directive to provide optimal service during Operation Ketupat 2026.
