National Police Chief Calls on Young People to Support the Asta Cita Programme and Maintain National Unity
The National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, invited young people to support the government’s Asta Cita programme in the context of the current global geopolitical situation. General Sigit stated that young people have an important role to play in the progress of the Indonesian nation.
This was conveyed by General Sigit at an iftar event with a number of community organisations (ormas), youth organisations (OKP) and students at the Mutiara Auditorium, STIK/PTIK Polri, South Jakarta, Thursday (26/2). The digital general said that young people have a strategic role in maintaining the direction of the nation’s struggle.
“Of course, our hope is that young people will also support and actively participate in overseeing the government’s programmes and objectives as outlined in the Asta Cita mission, 17 priority programmes, and 8 quick win programmes, as well as national priority targets,” said General Sigit in his speech, Thursday (26/2/2026).
General Sigit said that the current global situation is not good, leading to the emergence of transnational crime. Geopolitical conflicts and trade wars are challenges for all countries, including Indonesia.
“We can feel how the situation of geopolitical conflict, armed conflict, trade wars, and fragmentation is happening everywhere. In fact, the Global Risk Report states that we are currently in an era of increasingly sharp global competition, or what is commonly called The Age of Competition,” said General Sigit.
“On the other hand, transnational crimes, cross-border crimes such as drugs, online gambling, and human trafficking, smuggling of weapons, drugs, and potential global conflicts that can have an impact on conflicts that occur in the country,” he explained.
General Sigit said that in the midst of this situation, the government continues to push for the implementation of the Asta Cita programme, which focuses on national progress. The government of President Prabowo Subianto is also actively carrying out diplomacy so that Indonesia plays an active role in creating world peace.
“Various strategies are currently being implemented, starting from food self-sufficiency, nutritious food, downstreaming, strengthening prevention and improving the quality of human resources, and also efforts to pay attention to our environment with various programmes, starting from the asri programme to waste to energy. Of course, all of this needs to be supported by all components of the nation,” he explained.
General Sigit invited all parties to continue to support the progress of the nation. He emphasised the importance of unity and integrity for a Golden Indonesia in 2045.
“We must not forget the history of the nation’s struggle, where what we have achieved today is the result of the hard work of all elements of the nation. Starting from young people, activists, religious leaders, civil society, and all other elements of the nation. Of course, this is also what I always remind and we must remember together that unity and unity is the main capital,” he said.
