National Police Chief Calls on Community Organisations and Students to Maintain Public Order and Security
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, has called on community organisations, youth groups, and students to maintain public order and security. This call was made during a joint iftar event at the STIK-PTIK Polri in Jakarta, on Thursday (26/2/2026).
Sigit stated that maintaining public order and security is a crucial prerequisite for supporting national development. He affirmed that unity is key to facing global challenges.
“This event is part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen unity and support the government’s programs in realising the ‘Astacita’ program,” said Sigit.
Sigit explained that the current global situation is not favourable and has the potential to impact Indonesia. He emphasised that public order and security must be maintained to ensure that development can continue.
“Because public order and security are one of the main assets and prerequisites for us to carry out development,” Sigit said.
Sigit assured that the police will continue to provide space for students and youth to express their aspirations. He believes that expressing aspirations is part of democracy that must be upheld.
“The police are also ready to be evaluated and criticised so that it can align with the mandate and spirit of reform to become a civilian police that is close to and loved by the community,” Sigit said.
Sigit added that maintaining public order and security and a healthy democratic climate will strengthen the steps towards achieving ‘Golden Indonesia 2045’. He called on all elements of society to jointly maintain these conditions.
“Therefore, I urge that this institution continues to be maintained and nurtured so that together we can protect, guide, and realise the great aspirations of our nation in achieving national goals towards ‘Golden Indonesia 2045’,” Sigit said.
At the same event, the Deputy Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers and Chairman of the PP Pemuda Muhammadiyah, Dzulfikar Ahmad Tawalla, appreciated the event. Dzulfikar believes that the event strengthens synergy in maintaining unity.
“This is a consolidation of good deeds carried out by the police together with all friends from youth organisations, community organisations, civil society, and of course, friends from the student community, who have always worked together to realise ‘Astacita’ as initiated by President Prabowo Subianto,” said Dzulfikar.
Dzulfikar hopes that similar events will continue to be held to strengthen stability and collaboration between various elements of society. He believes that this synergy is important to support the national development agenda.
