National Police (Polri) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has referred to the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) as a strategic partner in supporting the reform of the police force to meet public expectations. The statement was made by Sigit whilst delivering a keynote address at the Kompolnas Supervisory Coordination Meeting for 2026 in Jakarta on Wednesday. ‘Our hope is that Kompolnas, as a strategic partner, continues to ensure that the Polri institution operates in line with public expectations and the various existing reform recommendations,’ Sigit said, as quoted from an official statement. He noted that Kompolnas has an important role in providing recommendations to President Prabowo Subianto, as well as in collecting and channelling aspirations and public complaints regarding the performance of the police. ‘These matters can be forwarded to the police as material for institutional improvement. Moreover, we have just finalised the Polri Law and are currently continuing to refine police regulations while awaiting the law’s enactment,’ he stated. The National Police Chief expressed hope that the 2026 Kompolnas Supervisory Coordination Meeting would further strengthen synergy and cooperation between Kompolnas and the police in carrying out the oversight function and following up on various matters of public concern. ‘The cooperation that has been running well between Kompolnas and the police, particularly in terms of oversight and following up on various matters of public attention, needs to be continuously strengthened through various reforms,’ he said. Sigit added that sustainable reforms are expected to make the police an institution that is adaptive, modern, and responsive to the needs of the public.
