Jakarta — National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has called upon all segments of society to unite in maintaining public security and order (kamtibmas) and to support all programmes of President Prabowo Subianto.

Sigit stressed that preserving values of unity and cohesion is the key foundation for the Indonesian nation to face all challenges arising from current global conflicts.

“And most importantly, to drive economic growth, the main requirement is that public security and stability, national security stability, must be maintained. This is certainly a shared responsibility,” Sigit stated in remarks received in Jakarta.

He made these comments following a Ramadhan safari activity at the East Java Regional Police Headquarters (Polda Jawa Timur) on Saturday.

In maintaining public order to support national economic growth, Sigit stressed that the government and the National Police must work in synergy with all segments of society.

“The National Police cannot work alone. All segments of the nation — the military, the National Police — must be solid. Supported by religious scholars, supported by all youth elements, society, workers, everyone must unite so that this becomes our shared work,” he said.

He noted that Indonesia has experienced difficult situations, including the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused economic turmoil.

However, Indonesia managed to face the pandemic and recover when it struck. Certainly, this success was the result of unity amongst all segments of the nation.

“However, thank goodness at that time we were all united — leaders, religious scholars, society, people, all united. At that time we were able to face all of it and in a short period our economic growth increased again, and we were able to be among the countries with the highest economic growth compared to developed countries and G20 countries,” Sigit said.

Furthermore, Sigit stated that Indonesia now faces similar challenges in different forms. However, he believes that if all parties unite, the problems currently being faced can be overcome quickly.

Amid such circumstances, Sigit also called upon all segments to support President Prabowo’s programmes, including efforts towards world peace and national self-reliance in the current situation.

“Therefore indeed the key is maintaining unity and cohesion. Certainly the government will take concrete steps to maintain our economic stability, particularly regarding oil prices,” he explained.

He also reminded that currently all parties must continue to prepare superior human resources. Particularly since Indonesia will face a demographic dividend.

According to him, this momentum must be used as a leap to make Indonesia an advanced nation. In doing so, the shared vision of creating Indonesia Gold 2045 can be realised.

“Driving President’s programmes related to food security, energy, and programmes on value-added processing that create employment opportunities so that Indonesia can truly manage the natural resources and natural wealth we have. Utilising the demographic momentum available to move towards the vision of Indonesia Gold 2045 and become an advanced nation,” Sigit said.
