Jakarta – National Police Chief (Kapolri) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has called upon all segments of society to work together to safeguard national unity and cohesion. This appeal, according to the Kapolri, represents a step to address the impacts of global dynamics.

The National Police Chief emphasised that unity and cohesion constitute the primary foundation for maintaining national stability whilst supporting the success of government programmes. The appeal was made by the Kapolri whilst attending a breaking of fast event jointly hosted by civil society organisations, youth organisations, students, and civil society groups at the National Police Academy Building (PTIK) in South Jakarta on Thursday, 26 February 2026.

“This is part of our efforts to continue building unity and cohesion to support what constitutes the government’s programmes in realising the Asta Cita programme,” said Sigit.

On this occasion, Sigit also highlighted the global situation which is currently experiencing various pressures and has the potential to impact the domestic situation. He subsequently warned of the importance of national preparedness so that Indonesia is able to face various implications that may arise.

“We certainly must continue preparing ourselves to face implications of global impacts and of course we need unity and cohesion,” added Sigit.

Sigit further noted that the stability of security and public order (kamtibmas) represents a fundamental requirement for achieving national development. For this reason, he called upon all segments of society to work together so that the Indonesian nation can grow sustainably.

“We must all be united together, working shoulder to shoulder to ensure that this nation continues to grow well because stability in security and public order is one of our main assets as a prerequisite for us to carry out development,” he explained.

Furthermore, Sigit assured that the National Police institution continues to provide space for all members of society, particularly students and the younger generation as successors of the nation, to convey their aspirations. He explicitly affirmed that the Bhayangkara Corps remains open to criticism.

“The National Police are also ready to always be evaluated and criticised so that the National Police can be guided in accordance with the mandate and spirit of reform to become a civilian police force that is close to and loved by the community,” he said.

A healthy democratic climate and maintained security stability constitute important assets for achieving the nation’s grand aspirations. He expressed optimism that, with strong unity, Indonesia is capable of realising the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.
