The Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas), Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, attended the launch of the Ministry of Transport’s Central Unified Eid Transport Operations Command Centre for 2026. Inspector General Agus stated that the National Police will participate through Operation Ketupat 2026 to ensure security for holiday travellers.

“The National Police Headquarters is conducting Operation Ketupat. Operation Ketupat is a humanitarian operation—it is not merely about regulating traffic, not merely escorting the flow of outbound and return journeys, and we must certainly oversee this,” said Inspector General Agus at the Ministry of Transport office in Central Jakarta on Friday (13 March 2026).

Inspector General Agus explained that in Operation Ketupat 2026, it is not simply about deploying police officers on roads, but rather ensuring that the public’s outbound and return journeys are safe and happy. Inspector General Agus also explained that Operation Ketupat 2026 carries the tagline “Safe Mudik, Happy Family” in accordance with instructions from Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

“Operation Ketupat is a humanitarian operation. We are not merely present on the roads; we assure the public that their journeys, whether outbound or return, must be safe, arrive safely at their destinations, and return safely. Of course, they must be happy, because the tagline of Operation Ketupat is ‘Safe Mudik, Happy Family’,” he stated.

Inspector General Agus said the command centre launched by the Ministry of Transport is meant to assure the public that the government is present to ensure the security of holiday travellers. Inspector General Agus emphasised that the National Police is also working to ensure smooth travel this year through Operation Ketupat 2026.

“The National Police Headquarters assures that conditions during the operation in the holy month of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, and even Nyepi Day must be safe,” he said.

Also present at the launch were Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, Deputy Transport Minister Suntana, Head of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Air Vice-Marshal Mohammad Syafii, Head of the Indonesian Agency for Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Affairs (BMKG) Teuku Faisal Fathani, Chief Executive Officer of PT Jasa Marga Rivan Achmad Purwantono, and other stakeholders.

Operation Ketupat 2026 is scheduled to run for 13 days, from 16 March to 28 March 2026. Inspector General Agus has also adopted a humanitarian approach in this holiday season to convey safety messages through a song titled “Orderly Mudik, Don’t Rush”.
