National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo attended the funeral procession of Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, retired General Try Sutrisno, at Taman Makam Pahlawan (Heroes’ Cemetery) Kalibata in South Jakarta. General Sigit expressed deep condolences at the burial site.

“First of all, of course we mourn the departure of retired General Try Sutrisno,” said General Sigit at the cemetery on Monday, 2 March 2026.

General Sigit regarded Try Sutrisno as a figure who left many positive marks on the nation of Indonesia. According to him, the passing of the deceased represents a tremendous loss for all Indonesian people.

“We certainly know that he was one of the national figures who inspired us greatly, and of course we deeply mourn his loss,” he stated.

Furthermore, the National Police Chief urged that the legacy and spirit of the deceased be continued by future generations. He hoped that Try Sutrisno’s exemplary conduct during his lifetime would serve as guidance, particularly for young people.

“What became his legacy, what became his inheritance, these are certainly things we must emulate, especially for the younger generation,” added General Sigit.

Concluding his remarks, the four-star general prayed that the deceased would find the best place beside God Almighty and that the family left behind would be granted strength.

“May his deeds be accepted by Allah the Almighty, and may the family left behind be granted perseverance,” he said.

At the site, the funeral procession proceeded solemnly despite rain falling during the event. The military ceremony was led directly by President Prabowo Subianto, who served as Ceremony Inspector.
