Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has assured that the relationship between the National Police and the Attorney General’s Office remains solid amid the handling of a suspected corruption case involving former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah (FA).

“I can confirm here, especially as we are together with the Attorney General and all senior officials of the Attorney General’s Office, and I am accompanied by the Deputy Police Chief and senior officials of the National Police Headquarters, that we are all in agreement and have conveyed to all our ranks that there is no problem between these two institutions,” Listyo Sigit said during a courtesy visit with Attorney General ST Burhanuddin at the main building of the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta on Monday.

The statement was made as Sigit answered media questions about the relationship between the National Police and the Attorney General’s Office following the emergence of a suspected corruption case that implicated former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah.

“We agreed that we will continue to hold these gatherings. This will be followed up at the provincial and district levels because we are also aware that there are many government programme agendas that we must safeguard and monitor,” he said.

Meanwhile, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin said the synergy between the Attorney General’s Office and the National Police had been established long ago and was mandated by prevailing laws and regulations.

“Our synergy has long been in place because the law also requires us to synergise. And of course today we showed those who did not yet know how we work together — this is our form of collaboration,” he said.

“We share the same goals and we cannot be separated,” he said.

During the visit, the National Police Chief was accompanied by Deputy Police Chief Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department Commissioner General Syahardiantono, Head of the Corruption Eradication Corps Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, Head of the Public Information Division Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, and a number of other senior officials from the National Police Headquarters.

The Attorney General was accompanied by Deputy Attorney General for Military Crimes Major General Ali Ridho, Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence Reda Manthovani, Head of the Asset Recovery Agency Kuntadi, and other officials of the Attorney General’s Office.
